The .kz extension is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Kazakhstan, a country that stretches over a vast expanse in northern and central Eurasia. ICANN approved the .kz extension in 1994. The registration service is overseen by KazNIC, a non-profit organization located in Kazakhstan.
Domain name registration under .kz registration zone is open globally to everyone. Thus individuals and organizations, including local or foreign, can register their domains with a .kz extension. Domain name characters can be a juxtaposition of English alphabets, numbers and hyphens, and can begin and end with these characters with the exception of the hypehn. Also, when choosing a domain name, try to choose a short name that is easy to remember. Currently, it is recommended to use four to sixty three characters, including second level and third level domain extensions.
The sub-domains reserved for special purposes include:
- .org.kz : for nonprofit organizations and projects
- .net.kz : for licensed organizations that provide data transmission service
- .gov.kz : for government departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- .com.kz : for commercial organizations
- .mil.kz : for the Ministry of Defense
- .edu.kz : for licensed educational organizations

The correctly filled out form in English is to be sent to the Registrar.
Under no circumstance, will the information entered in the registration form be leaked out or transferred. KazNIC
maintains a database with information of registered domain names, which is available at http://www.whois.nic.kz.
Upon request, one can change the provider or DNS server or registration information or IP address by sending an e-mail.
Domain names registered with .kz registration can be updated with registration data within 24 hours from the receipt of the application. |
